My name is Hélène.
Thirty one years old, born and raised in Paris, living in Toulouse since 10 years now, roots from Andalusia, Spain.
In a jumble, I am : travels, the world of coffee, the burning sun, seas and oceans, white wine, Pilates, the sound of the sheeps bells in the Pyrenees mountains, musics from around the world, gardening, the smell of the fig tree during the summertime.
Why photography?
After a few years as a lawyer in real estate law, turning thirty was for me the time to realize that I had to put into effect my dream of all times: to conciliate my job and my passion.
To me, photography is one of the best way to capture intuitu personae the perspectives and perceptions of the world, to share those present moments with the future, to expose the beauty even when it is not obvious, to freeze in the time a few seconds, to highlight the reality, to make art from reality.
Travels are my first passion and I am lucky to being able to travel since I am a young girl. Quickly, photography revealed itself to me as a perfect tool to capture what my eye and my soul perceive. The photographs are a way to take and keep with me pieces of the decors and peoples of the world, and also to share them as a testimony of my expeditions.
I have always had an artistic sensibility, I have been naturally developing it practicing photography.
To guide your look towards the beauty or its potential. Because I have the conviction that there is beauty everywhere, in and on every element; it is about detecting it and highlighting it.
Why Kat-Zié?
Inspiration came from my last name (Petitpoisson, means Little Fish in English). The foureye butterflyfish (“papillon kat-zié in French”) is a small tropical fish (Chaetodon capistratus), living in the Caribbean Sea.
“Kat-Zié” in Creole of the Antilles means four eyes, because of the four black circles it wears on its scale.
These four eyes remind me the photographer’s eyes: eyes of the face, eye of the lens, eye of the soul.
The Caribbean tropicality and the world into the water are parts of Earth that fascinate me.
What is your project?
Because I have the conviction that beauty is everywhere, the point is about seeing it, I invite you to talk about your project, to draw its outlines if your project is not totally precise yet.
